In Gowda Saraswath Brahmin community there was a
tradition to find grooms for alliance to their daughters
from among the children of the sisters. During the
wedding the sisters extract promise from the brother
that any son born to the newly wedded couple be
married to the daughter born to the sisters. And in
practice there are
marriages conducted of children of
either sex from among the progeny of the brothers and
sisters
(not among the progeny of brothers and
brothers) like it has happened in Mijar Annappa
Kamath's progeny. Sister Yamuna's son Gopalakrishna
married Amba the daughter of Yamuna's brother
Manjunath Kamath. Mukundray's daughter
Vijayalakshmi married Ramadas, a son of his cousin
sister Meera. Meera was the eldest daughter of Mijar
Dasappa Kamath. Mukundray was the son of
Manjunath, the younger brother of Dasappa.
